I’m “Retiring” ALL Of My Products
An Open Letter To My Subscribers, Affiliates, Partners, Friends and Customers
Let me say one thing up front: I’m not quitting as an internet marketer.
Let’s get that settled from the beginning. This is NOT another one of those “I’m retiring from internet marketing” deals. I’ve put in almost ten years as a full-time internet marketer and I hope to have many more decades of it in the future.
H – o – w – e – v – e – r …
I AM “retiring” ALL of my current products, membership sites,
coaching programs, ebooks, software programs, small reports, etc.
What do I mean by “retiring”?
I mean I am systematically going to begin removing ALL of my current offers from the internet and discontinuing the sale of them. Once they are removed, they will no longer be available for purchase.
The offers will be removed, one at a time, at a rate of about every 7-10 days. Everyone on my list will be given advance notice of what product is being removed with the date of removal. This will give everyone ample time to purchase anything they are interested in before it is gone.
August of this year will mark my 10 year anniversary since going full-time. I launched ProfitsVault.com in August 2000. (As a side note, I’ll be totally revamping that site and relaunching it in August of this year to celebrate!)
I’m not “quitting” internet marketing, but I’m going to scale back tremendously.
In a matter of weeks, every single current offer (ebook, membership site, etc.) will have been removed from the Internet and no longer available for purchase.
The big question is —
WHY?
There are three quick reasons that I want to share…
1. To free up time for personal interests.
I’ve got a book that’s being released in March called “Lessons That Leave A Mark” for Sunday School teachers and another one that will be done for release in July or August. I’m going back to Poland this summer as the mission trip team leader. I’ve been speaking at some churches and have a Christian based membership site that should launch sometime first quarter 2010. I just feel like my life needs to head in more of a ministry direction. Plus there are a lot of other personal things that I want to give more of my time to such as family trips (we’re gone somewhere almost every month … and loving it!) and running, tennis, backpacking. Life is too short to work all the time and we’ve been blessed enough over the past ten years that we can spend the next ten doing what we enjoy and feel called to do. (NOTE: You can keep up with my ministry stuff at my “other” blog … http://www.LifeTurns.com)
2. To streamline my business.
Despite the fact that I outsource most of my customer support these days, there are still a lot of day to day operations stuff that I’m involved in that demand my time. When you oversee more than 100 different offers, it can be time draining trying to train team members to handle new FTC rules, update sites, use new technologies, troubleshoot errors, not offend 20,000 customers who all feel like “personal friends” which require a personal response, etc. By having only 1-2 offers out there to maintain as opposed to 100+, I’ll be able to be more personal with my customers and eliminate a lot of time drain.
3. To maximize offers.
Ever heard of InfoproductMastery.com? Most people on my list haven’t, despite the fact that it’s arguably THE best course available on the subject of creating information products to sell. Ryan Deiss and I created it somewhere around 4 years ago. While I’ve sold a couple hundred copies … I should have sold THOUSANDS of copies by now. Why haven’t I? Because it’s been sitting there with no attention from me for years. I have so many ideas for new offers that I generally don’t spend enough time marketing them after I create and release them. I.E. I create an offer, promote it to my lists, get partners to promote it and then I move on to another list. That’s a waste of good products and services. I need to limit myself to fewer new offers and try to get them into as many hands as possible instead of mass producing content and casting them aside to gather cyber-dust.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I know there are going to be questions. Let me answer them before you ask them…
FAQ #1: Are you retiring?
Re-read the opening sentence: “I’m not quitting as an internet marketer.” Despite the fact that I’ve spelled this out, some will tell people I’m quitting or they’ll think I’m quitting. I’m NOT quitting. I’m “retiring” my current products, not myself.
FAQ #2: What about affiliates?
My affiliates and joint venture partners stand to make even more money than ever before. Every affiliate will have the opportunity to promote my products prior to them being removed, have the opportunity to promote limited “special offers” that will be a part of some offer removals and will have the opportunity to earn commissions on follow-up sales of new offers. Any existing links you have in place for items that are removed will be redirected to an explanation page about the removal, along with information on current offers … you WILL receive commissions on purchases made through valid existing affiliate links. Bottom line: if you’re an affiliate or joint venture partner, don’t go anywhere. Even better things are coming! (NOTE: If you ARE an affiliate, you’ll receive separate emails related to the “retirement”) Not an affiliate yet? Join at http://www.Infoprofitshare.com … it’s free.
FAQ #3: Will you release new offers?
As I mentioned earlier, I will DEFINITELY be releasing new offers later this year. I have several new membership sites, coaching programs and other products “ready to launch”.
FAQ #4: What if I’m a member of Membernaire or Affiliatenaire?
If you are currently a member of Membernaire.com or Affiliatenaire.com (or if you join PRIOR to me shutting the sales process down for them) you WILL be able to continue in the series of lessons until you complete them all. There are NO CHANGES for current members or anyone who joins prior to me retiring these two successful membership sites.
FAQ #5: Can I buy licensing to these removed products?
At this time, there are NO LICENSES available for the offers that I’m retiring. I do anticipate licensing (PLR) some of the content in the future (after everything is retired) and will make it known when and if they become available. At this time, no licenses are available. If you want PLR, grab all you can at http://www.PLRSO.com before they are removed as well.
FAQ #6: What if I’m on your list?
If you are on any of my lists … stay there! Firstly, all of the free content (articles, blog posts, newsletter issues, mini-courses, special reports, video tutorials, etc.) will still be free and as relevant to you as always. You don’t want to miss out on quality content that you can use. Secondly, by staying on my lists you’ll know which offers are being retired so you can grab anything you want prior to their removal. And, finally, moving forward there will continue to be new content and offers as usual … staying on my lists keeps you in the loop for all of it!
FAQ #7: Is this a marketing trick?
If by “trick” you mean “are you saying this just to get a bunch of sales and you really have no intention of retiring the offers”, then NO this is definitely not a trick. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t play marketing games. If I say only 100 will be sold, only 100 will be sold. If I say I’m closing the doors on Friday, I’m closing the doors on Friday. When I tell you that I’m removing the offers and they will no longer be available for purchase, that’s exactly what I mean. No tricks!
HERE’S THE TIMELINE…
The first offers scheduled to be removed are ALL of the special reports at http://www.SRzone.com On Friday, February 26th at 10PM all special report offers at the site will no longer be available for purchase. This includes http://www.HomepreneurHabits.com , my 65-page “operations manual”.
***DISCOUNTED PRICE*** As part of this special promotion, the prices of ALL small reports at the site have been discounted to only $10 each! (Yes, including Homepreneur Habits!)
-> The description of the reports will still read “$15”, but when you click on the order link, it will show that you are only being charged “$10”.
After the 26th, the next offer will be “on the clock”. I’ll announce which one it is, mention any special offers related to it and post the deadline. This process will repeat until ALL of my existing offers are retired.
I’ll still release new products, coaching programs, membership sites, etc. but for now, it’s time to say goodbye to ten years worth of existing offers.
In the meantime, grab a copy of anything you want from http://www.SRzone.com At only $10 per special report, you probably should stock up. EVERYONE should especially order Homepreneur Habits at that price! Remember, this is a time limited offer. On February 26th, they’re gone.
Best regards,
Jimmy D. Brown

Hey Jimmy:
Glad to get the inside scoop on your “Reprioritizing and Restructuring” I was beginning to miss your great information and with the exodus of Nicole had began to worry about you and your family… hmmmm…. as a professional acquaintance and client… who would be proud to know you as a personal friend, but understands the clear difference. LOL…. ;o)
I’m looking forward to your new releases and to continuing to learn from your high value, high integrity, over-deliver, ultra ethical approach to business and life. You’re one of the good guys… glad to hear you’re “alive and thriving” and that you are definately not going to be “retiring.” ;o)
February 16th, 2010 at 11:13 am
Jimmy, you have been a fantastic influence and mentor for me, and I am really looking forward to your new products. Also, I’m envious of your being able to devote more time to the Church and build a related membership site. I’m looking forward to it.
All the best, and may God bless you.

Jimmy,
I respect your decision to make changes in your life, and appreciate you sharing the information with us. I’ve only been online since 2005, half the time that you have, and have already seen so many changes. It is my guess that you will continue to have an impact on Internet marketing for years to come.

Hey Jimmy!
Sounds like you’re ready to just streamline and focus on those things that are important to you. Good for you! I wish you the best of luck with your new ventures you have planned, and your ministry work.
Just got involved in a new church myself recently and I am loving it, so I can relate. Warm regards, Cori

Hi Jimmy,
Well, you certainly do keep moving forward! Good for you. I feel like I”m saying goodbye to an old friend.
I wish you the best of everything and hope to see you still around the net!
February 16th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Jimmy, you have great products I’ll definitely promote as you retire them, but I want to say I learned something invaluable even from this action. Namely, that it’s better to focus on fewer products and do them well and really promote and maximize them, rather than continually creating new ones that I can’t properly promote. So this was very providential for me right at this time, as I’m looking at my own business as a book publishing coach very strategically.
Congrats on your book, by the way! I know you went with my recommendation of a publisher; I hope you had a good experience. I’m working with them on another client’s book as well. Terry Whalin says your book is really good. I know it is! Blessings on your new direction.

Purpose and career change are the concepts many people miss but not you. I appreciate the fact that it is fulfilling God’s purpose that has captured your heart in this decision.
Good for you . . . and us. I look forward to your new ventures as you continue internet marketing with purpose.

Hey Jimmy,
I’ve only been with you for about 3 weeks and I feel like I’ve known you for 3 years. I felt I could trust you more so than just about anybody I’ve meat on line, to date. Thanks for not shutting down the Affiliatnaire program because it is really helping me. I was planning on promoting the Affiliatnaire plan but I guess I’ll regroup and find something or write it my self. As my dad always said, if you want it done right, then do it yourself.
I just wish you and your family all of the happiness and joy that this life has to offer. We are on this earth for a reason an hats off to you for being able to answer God’s calling.
I look forward to following you on your christian site and my God bless you and yours.
Take care,

Jimmy does not sensationalize his offerings like most gurus do. His approach is very down-to-earth but more importantly works for a long long time. I will definitely be buying a few reports myself. Thanks Mr Brown!
February 17th, 2010 at 2:51 am
Jimmy, thank you for these PLR products. I’ve just bought your ‘Piggyback Product Launches’ and I am happy with the content. I’ll use it on my website for sure. Good luck!

You deserve to follow your heart. You’ve put in the hard yards and can reap the rewards. I’m just starting out and have been an Affiliatenaire member for several months. I have always liked your integrity, so good luck with the ‘new’ life, Jimmy.
Thanks for the continuing lessons. Now I must head over and purchase HomepreneurHabits. As if I need something else to read! LOL

You have since day one taught the importance of creating your own products. For the very reasons that you are showing us now: retirement of products, restructuring and the like. Some of us “not” personal friends, but customers should have headed your warning more seriously.
To your continued success!

Dear Jimmy,
Greetings from India!
Although sad to see you prune your product portfolio, I am very glad to know you are just restructuring and overhauling your marketing setup - but DEFINITELY not retiring from the IM arena, with a view to serve the existing customers better and to allow for more personal time.
As was relatively recently exposed to your products and had downloaded quite a few rebrandable content from your affiliate manager site InfoProfitShare, I am (like many other affiliates, I guess) confused as to which e-books to retain for future free giveaways, promotion, free thank you bonus, etc.
Would be great if you could enlighten us on this.
Good Luck!

Hi,
I got the Homepreneur Habits reports. I can say it’s VERY interesting the way you opened your office, showed what’s really needed to create a productive atmosphere and, not less important, how to direct your mind to be productive. Very enlightening.
I’d like to use this space to ask, among your report, which one(s) could be the most useful for someone who has no website, list, product, little budget, etc. and wants to begin as an affiliate.
Thanks and Good Luck!
Fabio.

Hey Jimmy,
This is so great to hear. I LOVE your stuff. Your membernaire series really made an impact on us when we needed a new stream of income (during economic recession).
I wish you the best in your future endeavors. May God bless you as you serve Him. Maybe we’ll be able to retire some of our products in the not-too-distant future and pursue other interests (like short term missionary work). That would be awesome.
Take care and God bless!
February 19th, 2010 at 8:47 am
Jimmy…your products appear to be of excellent value from my observation. I tip my hat off to you for your creative approach to selling info products, the high caliber info products that you create, and your ethical approach to doing business online with customers like myself is refreshing, since I know for a fact that many online marketers is all about the almighty dollar and will do anything to sell their own products or some one elses they have not even reviewed and claim or profess they are the best since sliced bread…lol
You are one of the few online professional internet marketers that I personally trust and respect and get excited about buying your products.
Jimmy…life as you know is short, as you said you find your self being consumed by your online business and the maintaining of your business which takes a certain amount of time regardless of how many outsource help you have, it can still take a lot of time just by the mere fact of how big you have grown in your online business.
LIFE IS SHORT…. we can suddenly pass on to the other world where our beloved ones have gone to that are no longer with us and if we are not careful it can slip right by us very quickly and then regret we did not take more time out for our families or for ourselves.
You are the expert in what you do online as a internet marketer not me, but if I may give you my humble opinion or feedback. You are a master at what you do find a way to to master passive income that will come in forever with a light maintenance program so that you can now pursue more of your christian based passions.
With you existing skills If I were in your shoes and with your level of success online, maybe a legitimate network marketing business that you can employ your online marketing skills may help you achieve the passive income you need to really pull back even more to pursue your christian based interests.
I wish you all the best and look forward to your new products that you put out in the future.
Wish you the best in your objectives with the ministry….edwin

Hey Jimmy,
God bless you and your family on choosing to spend more time serving our God. In the days to come there will hopefully be a worldwide revival where material possessions, wealth and power become less important than eternal salvation. I know you will lead many souls to Christ.

Hi Jimmy,
wow! what a huge change. I can see why, though, especially as you explained it in this post. Having this many small products can really create a nightmare of follow-up requirements.
On the other side, to free up time for what you really want to do is very inspiring.
Can’t wait to check out your revamped ProfitsVault in August.
Thanks for the chance to get in on your products at a big bargain too… and fill any gaps I have in my stash of your products
Thanks!

Hi, Jimmy.
I have been following you ever since I first found out about your original Vault shortly after I started my “online life” in 2001. As a fellow Christian, it has been such an encouragement to see how you have consistently maintained a witness for Christ in your online endeavors. Your example is both an encouragement and a challenge to other Christian marketers.
It is also a blessing to see how you are re-organizing your priorities to not only better focus on your business, but more importantly, to better focus on the ministry opportunities God has given you. In my opinion, your online success is living proof of Matthew 6:33 when put into action.

Thank you Jimmy for making me realize that we need to leave a LEGACY, footprints that people can follow from in this journey called- LIFE.

Jimmy,
I’ve learned SO much from you and always look forward to getting your emails and new products. I want you to take a rest and come back with more good content!
Jimmy, you are on a short list of internet marketers who are genuine, honest and who gives the customer/buyer a whole lot more value every time. Your products have always been so reasonably priced, as not to put it out of reach for the person who needs it most.
Just can’t thank you enough for creating the products and content that have contributed to my success and enhanced my knowledge base tremendously.
I wish you the best in your pursuit of other things that will enrich your life and give you more family-time. That’s one of my goals and why I am working feverishly to gain some measurable success.

Jimmy I have learned 3 things from you that have made me a lot of money and enriched my life greatly.
1. Give true value to your customers
2. Name your products well
3. Use acronyms
and 4, the most important, don’t be afraid to publicly say what you truly believe and what the source is for you of all meaning and purpose, and that is that God loves us all and Christ is our salvation.

As a Christian myself I am really inspired to hear about your Ministry direction. It is great encouragement to me to see that I can follow your example by being an ethical internet marketer without selling ’snake oil’ which so many people accredit to intnernet marketing.
Looking forward to see what you roll out next with great anticipitation.
God Bless in all things & thank you for all you have taught me so far,

hi jimmy,
i like this idea of yours. by ‘retiring’ your products, the perceived value will go through the roof. i wish i had some long standing products to do this with myself.
i am quite interested in the licencing options that might be available in the future. i could make some serious money selling your products!

[...] HEY – I’m “retiring” all of my products and services! After 10 years as an internet marketer, I am closing down all of my current money-making sites … removing all of my ebooks, reports, membership sites, software programs, coaching programs, etc. To find out what’s still available, visit http://www.jimmybrown.com/im-retiring-all-of-my-products/ [...]

although it will be sad to see some of the stuff go, it makes absolute sense…
if you try to do too much, it is either going to swallow you, or some things are going to be left unattended….
or both
like with info product mastery.
sometimes you just have to go of some things in order to focus….
took me a while to learn that as well.
my guess is that even though you may be scaling down, you will not be making less…
go for it.
