3 Keys To Kick-Start Your Biz In 24 Hours
Want to hear something that is VERY ironic?
The one thing that most internet marketers want the MOST is what they need the LEAST.
Most internet marketers are actively looking for a new marketing tactic or tool.
Their days are spent trying this idea and that idea, giving this new thing a chance and that new thing a chance.
They try a few list-building things. They try a few traffic generation things. They try a few affiliate marketing things.
They do the SEO “trick” they heard about on the forum. They write a gazillion ezine articles ‘cuz they heard that works. They move on to videos. Yeah, videos — that’s the answer because it’s new for now.
30 days later, 6 months later, 3 years later … they’re singing a new verse of the same song.
They are actively looking for a new marketing tactic or tool.
In the process they’ve been spending money instead of making it. They’ve been wasting time instead of freeing it up.
What’s the problem? Is it all smoke and mirrors? Is it all one big scam?
The problem is the ironic and sad reality: most internet marketers never see huge success because they constantly pursue things they WANT instead of things they NEED.
We’ll get back to that in just a moment. HOld that thought.
What I’m going to share with you in the remainder of this article will be a paradigm shift for a few who “get it”.
Some will skeptically say, “Jimmy is just trying to sell something.” Some will say, “Ah, what does he know?” Some will say, “I’m sure that’s right, but it’s not as sexy as all this other 3-ring circus stuff the gurus are doing”.
Whatever.
Take it for what it is. I’ve been doing this for ten years. I make a lot of money. I spend a whole lot more time traveling and playing tennis and going on mission trips that I do on my business.
I must know something. It may not be flashy. But it’s like novocaine, folks. Give it enough time and it always works.
Someone out there will read this. And they’ll get that what I’m telling you is legit. For that person, it’s time for a new song.
For the rest of you. Come back in 30 days. Or 6 months. Or 3 years. And read this post. Maybe then it will sink in.
Here are 3 keys to kick-starting your business in the next 24 hours…
1. STREAMLINE.
The first order of business is to bring some order to your business! You’ve got to streamline. And what I mean by that is simply this: do one thing and do it well.
You need to “decide what you want to be when you grow up”. That is, what business model do you want to follow? What is the ONE primary thing you’re going to do to make money?
Are you going to create information products? Be an affiliate marketer? Sell items on eBay? Create and flip websites? Provide a service? Coach?
Resist the temptation to try it all. Resist the temptation to dabble. Dabbling is a horrible, horrible thing for the average internet marketer. Trying a little bit of many things almost certainly will mean you won’t do anything well.
Decide right now what the ONE PRIMARY method of generating cash for your business will be. Don’t proceed until you’ve streamlined your business.
Then…
2. SYSTEMIZE.
Internet marketing is too big in and of itself. Imagine someone saying, “Now go do health” or “get out there and be a traveler” or “start parenting”.
Regardless of what your ONE revenue path is, there will be many parts. You’ve got to systemize your business into manageable chunks. You’ve got to break everything down into a daily, weekly and monthly schedule of action steps.
For me, I keep it very simple. I have three parts to my business…
* Offer creation.
* List marketing.
* Traffic generation.
I create a new offer. I market it to my list. I drive traffic to the offer site.
End of story.
I have a system I use to create a new offer. I have a system I use to write and send mailings. I have a system I use for getting visitors to my site.
It’s the same system I’ve been using since 2000. Novocaine, folks. Always works.
Create a checklist of action steps for ONE kind of offer. Create a checklist of action steps for ONE way to build a monetize a list. Create a checklist of action steps for ONE method of generating website traffic.
Don’t try a bunch of things and do them average or poorly. Find ONE method and do it WELL.
You want to UNcomplicate things. You want a MINIMAL set of action steps. You want to do the very least amount of different things as possible to achieve your goal.
You’ve got to systemize your business into manageable chunks.
Then…
3. STICK.
Perhaps the most devastating thing in the life of the 95% of those who fail is this: they don’t stick to it.
Seriously, that’s what failure is … it’s NOT DOING SOMETHING. It’s quitting. It’s coming up short of the finish line. It’s NOT DOING SOMETHING.
When you narrow things down to ONE way of making money and then create a simple checklist of MINIMAL ACTION STEPS to make money, you absolutely must STICK TO IT.
Don’t quit. Don’t quit. Don’t quit.
Despite me saying this, most reading it will quit anyway.
A “new” offer of the week will come along and they’ll get distracted. Someone well respected in the industry will convince them that the latest trick is the “most important thing you’ll ever do” (Talk about a new verse of the same song!) Things won’t happen instantly, overnight like other people promise.
Listen, you can rationalize the decision to quit in a thousand different ways. You can make excuses for why you should move on and try something else.
Label it whatever you want, but just below the surface you’ll see this word tattoed on your being in permanent ink … failure. If you quit, it’s all the same … it’s NOT DOING SOMETHING.
I know it’s hard to stick to things when there LITERALLY is a new offer in your face every single day. Most people just can’t resist that temptation.
So, do this: find yourself one mentor that you trust and believe and remove yourself from everyone else’s list. Just cut that temptation off at the root.
At the end of the day, I can tell you this. I’m about to celebrate 10 years online. I make more money than ever and work less than ever. I promise you, I know what I’m talking about here.
If you want to do well online, you’ve got to STREAMLINE, SYSTEMIZE and STICK.
You can stop reading right now and apply what I’ve told you so far and you’ll be right on target in six months. Pay attention to what I’m saying. You don’t need what I’m about to offer you. I know that’s contradictory to most people’s sales pitch. I’m supposed to convince you to buy something from me right now. And it’s true that I do have an offer for you. But I’m telling you up front, you can do everything I’ve told you above and be fine on your own. You don’t need my offer.
Now, for those who want some hand-holding and some specifics for the three keys above, I can help you.
I can personally (one-on-one) answer your questions, help you create a daily schedule and give you some specific action steps to take each week to build a streamlined, systemized and sticked plan of action.
All the details are at http://www.SixFigureFormula.com
Due to the personal interaction with me, there are only 50 spots available. Once they are sold out, they are gone. I can only take 50 students since I’ll be personally interacting with you EVERY DAY for four weeks.
Check it out at http://www.SixFigureFormula.com
Regardless of whether we create a plan together or if you do it independently, it’s time for you to sing a new song. Good luck!

Thanks, Jimmy, that’s just what I needed.
Truth is, I already know that… and so do most people.
However, like you say, it’s the ‘latest and greatest’ which always shifts our focus away from the main goal.
Best,
Rezbi

Absolutely fantastic! You have hit the nail right on the head with this one. All too often, people “dabble” here and there, then wonder why they aren’t making enough money to buy a coffee at Starbucks. It really is hard to stick to one plan and have patience - but doing so will lead to great things! Thanks for a truly inspiring post:)

I agree absolutely with your recommendations, motivation to stick can be learned too!

It is always an eye-opening experience to read your words and hear your advice

Wow………you just told every reader how to build a business the right way. When I was a young retail store manager about 40 years ago, the “old guy” that was responsible for the state of Florida, told me something that I have never forgotten. “You can’t be all things to all people.” He simply meant that you can not have everything that you think everyone wants.
I have never been in a situation of confusion that I have not been able to correct by remembering his advise.
Focus on your project once YOU have decided it is the right direction. Stick with it. And move forward.
A person is much better off doing a few jobs well than many jobs poorly.
October 21st, 2009 at 7:19 pm
Hey Jimmy.
As a 6-Figure graduate, I got to say that these 3 principles have become fundamental in running my own business. I agree that if you do 1 thing, other aspects of your business get neglected. The 3 principles you mentioned have become law in my business ever since. Thank you. Sal

Jimmy
Fantastic article and you hit the nail right on the head.
Here we are attempting to reach immediate gratification in doing business on the internet. Yet in a bricks and mortar type business most individuals would understand it takes a good year to begin seeing solid results, if any depending on their business plan.
So, why is it so different in the internet world…
because people begin to believe the hype and feel they can achieve immediate success. Debt today, millionaire tomorrow.
Your advise is well founded and welcome.
Plan the work and work the plan.
October 21st, 2009 at 7:29 pm
Thanks Jimmy,
Good stuff indeed.
It reminds me of……..wait, would you look at that?
Be right back,
Steve
October 21st, 2009 at 7:34 pm
I absolutely agree with you Jimmy. I think the place where it gets difficult, especially for very new marketers is they don’t know the “how”. The down and dirty nitty gritty how of things. How to create links, how to choose modules at Squidoo, how to build links, how to write an article, what to say in blog posts etc.
They also don’t have the confidence in the beginning to just DO it and see what happens. They get stuck in reading reading reading to make sure they know everything and everything is absolutely going to WORK that they never even get started. My new motto is just take action. You aren’t going to get anywhere without taking action, and I absolutely agree that choosing 1 plan is probably the only way to be really successful.
Although I think that should not be confused with growing your plan. Some may begin by building lenses on specific topics, then once they become great at that, they expand the plan to building niche sites they host themselves, using the lenses to point back to their own site, but 1 plan is a smart idea.

Jimmy,
This has to be one of my favorite posts from you! I always love how you are do honest and upfront. Everything you said is so true! This is a great reminder. It’s so hard to stay focused with all the offers that are out there. You’ve made me take a deep breath and relax! KISS (keep it simple sweety)! Thanks for the encouragement and reminder!
October 21st, 2009 at 7:42 pm
Hi! Jimmy,
Thanks, a great reminder. I was that person moving from new ideas to something new every week. But since signing up with your Affiliatenaire I have already lessoned to you and have learned these lessons from you. So now when I get a new “idea” e-mail if it is not from Jimmy D Brown I just delete it without reading it. Saves me time so I can work on my lessons.
Anyway, your advise is working for this ol gal.
October 21st, 2009 at 7:43 pm
Thanks Jimmy D.Brown…
For bringing us back down to Earth! With 90 plus emails arriving
on a daily basis I got sucked back into the mad rush to follow some
new path leading once again to failure and, or disappointment.
It’s time re-visit and stick with (focus on) one approach that I happen
to actually enjoy and have an excellent chance of succeeding with.
I’ll begin my day tomorrow by unsubscribing to 98% of the lists that
devour my time and thwart any real chance of success! What a feeling
of power. Be assured that your site will never get the boot!
All the best,
Jon
October 21st, 2009 at 7:45 pm
Hi Jimmy,
I really like your approach. For me I think it is selling my own stuff, and my own stuff is info products (at the moment eBooks).
It is getting the word out that I battle with.
As to quitting: I think there is a time to do this. When you are out of ideas, what you have tried has failed and you know why it has failed.
Thanks for a great post.
October 21st, 2009 at 7:49 pm
Hi Jimmy,
Once again you’ve put everything into perspective. You’re right. Everyone who has been marketing for awhile knows everything you are talking about. I’ve been one of your affiliatenaire students for awhile now. The first thing you show me in your lessons is to TAKE ACTION!
Then what do I do?… the opposite. I get lost in all the hype of the next greatest “trick” to make it work and I don’t do what I’m told! I’ve started doing 1 thing that you talk about: STREAMLINE.
This is so important because it helps me find the time to get things done. So I’m with you brother on the whole system. I just have to do what I’m told: TAKE ACTION!
So thank you Jimmy for doing everything you can to help others succeed. All you can do is present the information. It’s up to US to USE IT!
For those who don’t know Jimmy D. Brown…trust what he says because he wouldn’t be doing this if it didn’t work! May God continue to bless you brother like I know HE has!
Have a great day!
Rodney
P.S.
Anyone ever told you how much you look like Dave Ramsey? LOL
October 21st, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Jimmy,
You ALWAYS give the best advice online… ALWAYS. You are among the trusted marketers that know what they’re talking about and who actually *DO* what they teach.
From the day I met you (wayyyy back in 2003) I knew you were ‘for real’ and that you know what you’re doing. I implore all newbies (or stubborn alreadys) to listen, heed and DO. Jimmy is for real, he practices what he preaches and he’s VERY smart.
I hate to confess but I’ve been as guilty as the 95% who want to be successful about scattering myself too thin, but I’m cutting back, dropping domains that don’t work (or domains that were dreams that never came to fruition) and learning the hard way that your three tips will absolutely work for anyone who diligently applies them and doesn’t waver or get seduced by the “latest thing”. I’m applying them now.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise — it is much appreciated.
Love & blessings to you and yours,
Donna
October 21st, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Thank you so much for this, but I think you are selling yourself short. This business model is not only good for internet businesses, but for many other offline services as well. I’m thinking specifically of my own business as a counsellor in private practice. Good advice always seems to have that quality of being transferable to a variety of mediums!
October 21st, 2009 at 8:04 pm
Jimmy,
What I love about your blog posts and your products is that you simply tell it like it is. I have heard this in so many different ways over the years, but you cut right through to the heart of it all. I think the hardest part for me is to stick to it….I think I may give up on that “doing one thing well” too soon, thinking that the “one thing” that I chose was the one wrong thing. Thanks for reminding me! -Norene
October 21st, 2009 at 8:16 pm
Jimmy,
Thanks for sharing this perspective. You’re right… it’s not glamorous and flashy so people may have a tendency to undervalue it. Seems like that’s a common theme in most disciplines: learn the basics, master the basics, repeat the basics.
Thank you again for sharing this with us!
Ron

I am printing this and posting it where I will see it every day. Thank you!
October 21st, 2009 at 8:32 pm
Jimmy,
You have been reading my mail. I cannot believe how well you have just described me and my struggles for the past 3 years. It really is difficult to decide what you want to be and just do it. It seems that when I make a decision to get started on something, and start taking the action steps necessary, a new offer or strategy comes along that promises to help me achieve my goals quicker and easier and I run right after it.
Add to that the fact that I got laid off from my real job and that really puts the pressure on to decide. But the principles you lay out here are just down to earth business success principles.
Thanks for your willingness to give back.
Kelly
PS Glad to hear about the mission trips.
October 21st, 2009 at 8:36 pm
Thanks Jimmy. Yet another wisdom jewel.
I’m hearing the overwhelm from women that I work with.
Many experience information overload and try to be
all things to all people in business and that’s just not
going to empower them it is a dis-empowering behavior.
Great article!
October 21st, 2009 at 8:43 pm
Jimmy,
Thanks for the kick in the head.
It’s like you’ve been watching me and know what I have been doing. I have been “dabbling” in this world of Internet Marketing for a year. I feel confident that I have found 3 quality people that can help me be successful. You are definitely one of them. Unfortunately, it is my own demons that I have to fight. I have even signed up for Affiliatenaire but once again I have gotten side tracked.
Thanks, for putting everything in perspective and getting me back on track.
Your honesty, integrity, profound knowledge, and your genuine caring about the people you come in contact with make it obvious why you are so successful.
Have a GREAT day!
David

Great post. I just put up my first website and am wading through all the business stuff in between daily life with a (very) large family. Thanks so much.

Amen Jimmy.
What a fantastic post. You could have sold that psot for $100.00 and it would probably be the best $100 most have spent. Believe me I kknow what you are talking about. I thought I would do great teaching my marketing methodes through blogging and article writing.
Guess what?
It didn’t happen. I was whore out. I sold more selling on ebay. Then because of affiliatenaire and great advice from you Jimmy D. Brown and Nichole, I saw the light to marketing on the internet.
I focused on my niche ‘Plumbing” of all things. I created a site. I write hard hitting great content for Diy’ers. they read. They go to my site and follow me on twitter. Next I am creating an e-letter to give my marketing and plumbing secrets away to the plumbing service industry. How great is that.
It is going to be something that other plumbing newsletters aren’t doing yet.
I have my sanity again. I am focused. The best thing of all I am giving back to a super industry.
All thanks to you, Jimmy and Nichole. Thanks!
October 21st, 2009 at 9:14 pm
Awesome post Jimmy!
This is so timely for me because just today I sent an email to my list telling them I’m discontinuing all my info-products and closing down my affiliate program.
Quite a while ago now I did decide on just one main route for my business and that is affiliate marketing. Like you spoke about above I’ve done OK with a little bit of everything but have excelled in nothing for the past 6 years (yea that’s 6 NOT 3).
I know what I need to do. I knew it 5 years ago but you’re so right about the temptations and the shiny objects and even the justification that I’m doing all these methods for ‘research’.
Well I am determined now to simplify, simplify, simplify and it’s been quite a process. I’ve been doing it for about six months now. Cutting out projects and websites and marketing methods that are just taking up way too much time and not producing enough results. Some days I feel like just deleting everything and starting from scratch would be much faster and easier.
Now my focus is pretty simple:
- Affiliate Marketing Through my Blog
- Email Marketing to Promote my Blog
- Article Marketing and SEO to get traffic to my blog
I don’t have real solid systems for those yet but you’ve definitely motivated me to get them done like yesterday - I promise it won’t take me another 6 months to do so!
thanks so much for the excellent advice,
Angela

Hi Jimmy,
I love the 3rd point that you mention that we need to stick to the plan that we have and not quit. I am sure if we can doing the right thing, the right results will come. It is just the matter of how fast the results will come.

Hi Jimmy,
Recently I’ve been self-analyzing because I just can’t seem to get the results. I decided that I just keep getting pulled in several directions at once, and I MUST pursue one thing!
Well, you just nailed it! As much as I hate to agmit it here in public, you described me.
I am in Membernaire, and I’m going to stick with it. Thanks for a great post.

Very nice. I only hope many people who read this will pay heed and follow your advice. But as you said, most will not - so I also hope those folks will come back after 6 months and read it again… then, maybe, the advice will resonate more powerfully.
“Streamline - Systemize - Stick” should be the newbies mantra to succeed!
Thanks for sharing this powerful post. I’m letting my Twitter followers know about it.
All success

Great blog - bet you get that comment alot.
I actually totally agree with what you are saying. There is too much temptation out there to do you business in so many different ways. I have had to go back and start again and ignore the pulls to try different things and work out what I really want .

Great post Jimmy!
It is frustrating to see the so called GURU marketers pushing the latest greatest high dollar programs that you must have to succeed online and then the following week or two they push another very expensive program that you just can’t live without.
Yes keep it simple. If people will listen to your post they will save a lot of time, money and frustration.

Now get this, Jimmy, you are also talking about poker! That’s right, you just sounded like me coaching someone on how to become a winning poker player… a winner at life: 1. Forget the fancy stuff, simplify, get back to basics. 2. Find your authentic self and discover what works for you, not the action junky at the other end of the table; discover the plan that works for you. 3. Repeat.
There you have it, Jimmy. You are also a poker coach!

Weird that I found this now…actually it found me since I’m on your mailing list.

Maybe this is karma?
Time to sell some of your stuff to pay for this

Hi Jimmy!
Well, being a Membernaire member since late August, I must admit that I began very aggresively with your Program, and always waited impatiently for your next email and lesson… all the way up to about the 3rd week, became distracted and even though I still desperately wait for my next lessons, I haven´t done anything with it… I began to slowly drift away from it… Well, thanks for “SLAPPING” me back on course… Its exactly what I needed and I am sure many others needed it as well…
I know a man of your expertise is not afraid to speak his mind, So get rougher on us, some of us REALLY need it bad… as for me, I hope to be back on course… I just have alot of catching up to do, but I am not worried about that… I will dedicate myself to focus alot more and work on my self focus… Its a bad habit that I and many others need to break and thats the most difficult step of all!
Thanks a TON and PLEASE! Stay on our butts… even though being thousands of miles away, many of us need your support and knowledge to show us the way… You are the right one for us, Now Teach and Show us how to be the RIGHT ones FOR YOU!
Sincerely from Munich, Germany

Thank you Jimmy for this very honest and accurate article. What you have said is absolutely correct and you have said it in a way that is so easy to understand.
The problem that so many ‘newbies’ and rising stars face these days is information overload. It is very easy for most people to become distracted when so many so called ‘gurus’ say “do it this way” or “do it that way” becaus their way is the only right way to do things.
I have enrolled for your mentoring course and I am thoroughly looking forward to learning from you.
Thaks again,
John

Is today, “tell the truth and nothing but the truth day”?
I spent some time today, watching a video with Glenn Livingston saying virtually the exact same thing, and now here you are. In his video he said to find ONE BUSINESS MODEL you trust:
ONE BULLSEYE KEYWORD you will dominate
ONE competitor to entirely reverse engineer
ONE PAGE of principles which define your center of marketing gravity
The point both he and you were making is ONE!!!
Thanks for your pithy, cloud-dispersing posts.

Thank you, Jimmy.
I totally agree with you. As most of other folks, I am guilty of testing and doubting my methods, my skills and my writing. If you cannot sell your “creation”, there has to be a reason… Is it the wrong subject, the bad skills, inability to write sales letters, inability to choose the right strategy?
I think most of people just start asking these questions and cannot find answers to them when they quit.

Hi Jimmy,
Many thanks for some great advice. I love trying out new programs for a while until the next one comes along and I have too many websites and blogs.
I’ll cut back and look for considerable improvement
Thanks again

Thank you Jimmy.
Your post came right on time when my thoughts was starting to cloud with all the new offers !
Usually I try to keep my focus on one thing at a time- like most recently my focus was only on PPC
and still trying to get a hang of it.
The three “S” you spoke about couldn’t be better than any other action-plan.
I really appreciate your willingness to share that quality knowledge that you have earned over all
these years.
Your ever fan !

Thank you Jimmy. Your writing always calms me down. It helps me to focus and stay on track. I am currently following your Affiliatenaire course. I was wondering whether I should enroll in the present course you are proposing or wait till I finish the first one. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Jimmy,
You always manage to hit the nail on the head. Most people know that they bounce around from the “deal of the day” to the next. I’m sure you’ve been there yourself. There’s nothing wrong with checking out these deals if you’re learning from them - look at the style in which they are created and learn from them or even create a “swipe” file or two. But don’t get caught up in trying everything you see - you wouldn’t try a new j.o.b. every few days, would you? I love the stick-to-it recommendation because that’s exactly where people miss out; they move on to something before they completely utilize what they already know. Thanks a bunch, man!

Jimmy, this post should be a ‘must-read’ for every new internet marketer!
I’ll add 2 more “S” words from my personal vocabulary: “Simplify” and “Specialize”. (It all works out to “Streamline”, in the end.)
Not long after I got started, my copywriting business really took off when I decided to specialize and actually *cut down* the number of services I offered.
And that was a tip from you, too.
October 22nd, 2009 at 8:18 am
Hi Jimmy,
You’ve just gone and nailed the subject matter again Jimmy.
I love the analogy of “deciding what you want to do when you grow up” - this is so true. Luckily it took me about six months to ‘grow up’ and even then I still had many ‘growing pains’ to deal with.
Cheers Jimmy you’re a massive inspiration for me with the knowledge and clarity of your writing.
Garry.

Great post Jimmy,
I love following your writings, they are so right on topic. We all need to step back from time to time and take a good look at our businesses. We also need to do a good spring cleaning of them. Thank you for reminding us as we tend to wrap ourselves around the axle and don’t realize how much time we waste.
Thanks

Synchronicity!
Quote - “But it’s like novocaine, folks. Give it enough time and it always works.
Someone out there will read this. And they’ll get that what I’m telling you is legit. For that person, it’s time for a new song.”
Talking of ’songs’ and ‘Novocaine’, I was just listening to a song called ‘novocaine for the soul’ by Eels while reading this post.
I got what you’re saying Jimmy and I reckon it IS legit. Nice work fella.
October 22nd, 2009 at 9:16 am
All I can say is “Guilty!” There are so many latest and greatest things out there, and it’s so easy to get sucked in. Plus, when you’re trying something and it’s not working like you think it should, it’s so tempting to switch to something else. I’ve been having SO much trouble getting traffic to my sites, and I find myself flitting from one system to another. I know I should stick with what I’m doing, but then I have the little voice inside of me saying, “This is not working. Try something else.”
Thank you for this article. It’s the reminder I needed!
October 22nd, 2009 at 9:29 am
Thanks Jimmy, your article is an excellent reminder on how the simplest of actions we can turn into the most difficult decisions to make. Simple is as Simple does…but we humans always complicate things…

Great article. Very concise and to the point. I completely agree that people need to focus their efforts and become great at something instead of average at many things.
I think that is part of my problem. While I have done a good job at pairing down what I do, I still think that I am trying to do too many things.
The problem is that I simply do not know what else to eliminate from my strategy. I am making a livable income online, but I think that specializing would still help me get “over the hump”.
Thanks for your consistently great posts.
October 22nd, 2009 at 11:35 am
Great, great advice. I really relate to the first one: Streamline. The average person thinks, “If one website, blog, product, or service makes me THIS much… I could double and triple it by putting more out there!”
This very thought is responsible for wrecking thousands of dreams. I should know, I’ve been there.
When I first started out online, I literally put up over 20 sites! I started with a few of my first loves (cats and cooking). Then, when they began to make money, I stupidly put up sites and blogs to just about every niche you can imagine. My thoughts were incredibly wealthy, but my reality was flat broke.
After driving myself nuts trying to find time for everything, I asked myself a question: Are you having fun yet?!?! I decided which sites I was passionate about (i.e. I could talk about them for hours without taking a breath). Those are the ones I kept. The others? Good riddance.
Spreading yourself too thin simply doesn’t work - it’s like trying to frost a 4 layer chocolate cake with icing for a 2 layer cake. Something isn’t going to get covered and what does get covered, doesn’t get all that it needs.
Life’s too short and it’s too beautiful to do that to yourself. Specialize and you realize.
Now I’m craving chocolate cake. Great…

Dear Mr. Brown:
Friday, October 23rd, ‘09 at 2:33AM Tokyo Time
Accolades proffered.
My takeaway/nugget gleaned was/is: We (in the Royal we internet marketer wannabe community sense) need 3 systematic sub systems not one grand jiffy jar. In other words, we neophytes need to function as sub contractors do in a housing construction job along with being the Frank LLoyd Wright of the info vision.
This is where I was conflating……. : -) e.g. thinking bout squeezes for a while and then getting all Kerned up about a sales page or trying to find the fantastico button for WP so I could Deiss a membership karma.
Now, I grok it: take a dose of Pagen/Alex Jeffrey’s time mgmt and get the old yellow out with pencil and outline the subroutines for: A) Offer creation B) List marketing and C) Traffic Gen. Once the sub steps are clearly outlined in detail for each phase take results layer cake them in to me Gmail calendar…..for execution >>> think generic systematized OTC info marketing. (yellow legal pad outline sequential steps rather than mind mapping….)
Info Marketing scaffolding ala Jimmy Brown. If I hadn’t stayed up this late to read your piece I would still be wandering in the internet wilderness tomorrow and for a long time thereafter.
Arigato and let me buy you a sake next time you’re in Tokyo.
Best wishes,
HAL/cashstack

Hi Jimmy,
Thank you for sharing this very honest post.
I do agree with you on making the whole business model more simpler so that people will be able to understand clearly the big picture view of the business and they will know clearly the task that they have to do.
I agree that focusing on doing one thing at a time is the fastest way to progress. Sticking to a plan and focusing on doing one thing at a time will get more positive results.
Thank you for the kind reminder and I will remind myself of these 3 points again.

Jimmy,
You are so right. I’ve been wandering around all guru sites for six months until I joined Affiliatenaire. I’m trying to get focused on one or two things.
It is certainly impossible to keep up with all amilings, all offers, all launches, and still try to manage your own business.
I decided to drop every subscription to every site or list and concentrate in my own marketing. At least for the next six months and see how it goes
Hope it works.
Thanks again. You are a good and serious man.

Thank you. I am a complete newbie. I have signed on to so many lists that all say this is the way to make internet millions. I am going to unsubscribe to all but maybe 4 of them tonight. After all of the reading I’ve done in the last few months, I’ve finally narrowed down the business model I want to use. I just wish I could afford your course. However, if you offer it again in about a year, I will bw the first to sign up.

It’s refreshing to see a “guru” who stands on the same ground and consistently walks the talk he puts out. I personally don’t need anymore pains in my life and when I get tired of the nagging aches and pains of internet marketing, I go to one of Jimmy Brown’s blog post and grab the rope and climb back to center. At the level that Jimmy Brown operates he could simply just put his name out there but he continues to add relevant and useful information and shared experiences.
The facts, the truth, all to often sound to simple to work. We tend to look for the next “flash in the pan” or the “shiney new trick” that other “gurus” are glad to provide. Jimmy Brown just continues along showing us the answers over and over again until we wake up and get it. Sooner or later most of us find ourselves back where he said we should have been all along.
Thanks for keeping it real and right in front of us.

Jimmy, I can’t thank you enough! I have been floundering in the information overload pool for over three years, not understanding why nothing was working for me … after all, I was jumping on everything coming my way that sounded like the real deal. I was about to go down for the last time and just give it up, but the light bulb came on when I read your post. I’m going to “pay it forward” and send your post to my list of around 15,000. Not very large, I know, but it’s growing. I just haven’t figured out yet how to turn my opt-ins into buyers.
( I’m 80 years old, live on fixed income, so have to do only free advertising, which probably puts a hamper on both sales and list building, but I am determined).
As soon as I can afford to, I”ll purchase your Affiliatenaire Course since affiliate marketing is what I’ve already decided I’m going to do.
Thank you so much for your sharing and caring. The world needs a lot more people like you. Too bad they haven’t pefected cloning, you’d be a perfect model, and I mean that sincerely.
God Bless you and yours

Thank you Jimmy for breaking it up into three S. You are very right because that is something I have personal experience. Things failed to work and I used to move to new ways, new fomulars. At the end of the day I did not make money but I learned something. My lesson was simple, every new thing is a recycle of what I was having before. Thank you for this post , at least I feel that I am not alone, I sometime stick and stick without quitting until I wonder if I am not becoming static. Thanks alot for this Jimmy.
October 23rd, 2009 at 1:44 pm
Thanks for the reminders. We must focus our efforts, which I do pretty well. Then, every once in a while, some offer catches my eye. I look into it, mostly to see if I get any good ideas from the sales page. Then I close the browser on it. It’s getting so I hate to spend money; I want to to make money. Since my sites are beginning to show a profit, I just need to stick with it. Once again, thanks for reinforcing my belief in myself and my ideas.

Truer words are seldom spoken in this race to try to make money online.
It’s funny that today is the launch of Mike Dillard’s new WWN program. I’ve had more emails today from all those other gurus wanting to pitch this program to me than I’ve had leads surface thru my SEO blogging. I suppose they are all competing for that elitist’s car.
