$20,000 … Even For Beginners?
During the past several days I’ve gotten a lot of private feedback about my recent post, “$20,000 in 45 Days From Scratch”. You can read the post at http://www.jimmybrown.com/20000-in-45-days-from-scratch/.
A substantial amount of people have said things like “this is a better model than most high-priced courses I’ve purchased” and “great article filled with an idea that sounds completely plausible” and so forth.
But…
There have also been a lot of people who have contacted me and said things like this…
“Jimmy, I have no doubt that this would work for YOU. But nobody will buy a high-ticket eclass from me because I’m a beginner.”
Would you like me to tell you what that email is — and every email just like it?
It’s an E - X - C - U - S - E!
That’s all it is. I’m not saying it’s a complaint. Nor a whine. Nor a “poor me” pity statement. I don’t believe that at all. I don’t believe it’s self-wallowing or a “you’ve got an advantage and I don’t” kind of statement.
I believe this statement - and others like it - are very sincere and honest from people I like and hold in high esteem.
And this post is absolutely NOT an attempt to belittle them or chastise them. It IS, however, an attempt to set straight some incorrect thinking.
Because, at the end of the day, comments like this are simply an EXCUSE.
An excuse is an explanation offered as a reason for not doing something.
And that’s all this statement is: it’s saying, in effect, “here’s my reason why I can’t do what you’ve just told me.”
It’s saying, “I’m a beginner and as a beginner I can’t possibly make this work because no one will buy from a beginner”.
It’s an excuse. An explanation offered as a reason for not doing something.
It’s sincere, but it’s not valid. It’s genuine, but it’s not legitimate.
And I’m about to tell you why.
Here are FOUR reasons why a beginner CAN and SHOULD create their own high-ticket eClass as I taught in my earlier post. (Note: If you haven’t read that post yet, please do so in order to understand what I’m about to explain.)
1. RESULTS SELL REGARDLESS.
Nobody is gonna care if you’re a beginner if you can prove results. If I’m selling an eBook that teaches exactly how I lose 50 pounds, nobody is gonna care if my name is Jenny Craig or Jimmy Brown. What they want to know is how I lose the 50 pounds and, more importantly, how they can lose 50 pounds.
Just because you’re a beginning MARKETER doesn’t mean you don’t have a story to tell, experiences to relate, successes to share and proven effective strategies within your market to reveal.
At the end of the day you can be Kitty Cat Brown instead of Tiger Woods if you can show them how to hit thundering tee shots and putt like a pro.
Results can and do sell eClasses and any other information based products.
Which brings me to this…
2. GOOD MARKETING WILL SELL ANYTHING.
If you have good marketing in place it really doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a seasoned expert. If you had any idea how many “Mr. X” personalities out there were complete beginners as internet marketers it would shock you.
And yet they can sell millions of dollars in goods.
Why? Because of good marketing. Not because of a good reputation or name within the marketplace. Not because they were well known. Not because they already had a following. But because of good marketing.
And you want to know something else — it isn’t even always THEIR marketing. I KNOW personally of a guy who knew nothing about internet marketing but had a good idea for an information product. He created the information product and a friend of his setup the website, did the graphics, wrote the salesletter, developed the marketing materials and so forth.
He was a complete beginner in every sense of the word when it comes to internet marketing. No reputation. No influence. No experience. Nothing.
And yet he sold hundreds of thousands of dollars in product as a beginner.
Why? Good marketing. In his case, it wasn’t even HIS marketing. He outsourced it.
That reminds me of this…
3. THERE IS IGNORANCE EVERYWHERE.
Ignorance isn’t an ugly word, although some people use it that way. It simply means a “lack of knowledge”.
There is ignorance all around us. In many cases, people won’t even know you’re a beginner. Few people knew the guy I mentioned above was a beginner. You couldn’t tell it by looking at this site. Or reading his materials.
It’s not that he or anyone else was hiding anything. They didn’t say he wasn’t a beginner. They just didn’t broadcast it. And, really, there wasn’t any reason why they should disclose it. He wasn’t selling a course on internet marketing. He was fully qualified to teach what he was teaching.
In many cases no one will even know you’re a newbie internet marketer.
And, you want me to let you in on a secret? It works the other way too. Not everyone knows who is NOT a beginner!
I get people all the time who have no idea that I’m a well known internet marketer who is on almost everyone’s “guru” list.
I had one person email recently to say this: “Jimmy, I love your new blog. It even looks better than the blogs of the top internet marketers”.
She honestly had no idea that I AM one of the top internet marketers and have been for almost a decade. I don’t say that to brag, but to illustrate a point: there are a lot of people who have no idea who is NOT a beginner. There are a lot of people who have no idea who the “gurus” are and are not.
Your place is as secure as anyone else’s in their eyes. And new people are getting into this market every day.
4. NOBODY STARTS OUT AS A GURU.
Here’s what always amazes me: beginners seem to think that no one other than them started out as beginners.
Seriously, it’s like every “guru” was just born a “guru” and always has been a “guru”.
Listen, I was a beginner too. Back in August 2000 I launched my first site. Nobody knew who I was. Nobody had ever heard of me.
And you know what — nobody cared!
I had a good product, good marketing in place and I made contacts with people who promoted me. And my business boomed.
HINT: I’ll let you in on a secret. It’s because I didn’t play the “beginner” card. I didn’t use that excuse to hold me back from taking my best shots.
I could probably come up with more reasons if I wanted to, but I think you should have the point understood.
Just because you’re a beginner in internet marketing does NOT mean you can’t create your own eClass or anything else for that matter.
People WILL buy from beginners. And, believe it or not, affiliates and joint venture partners WILL promote offers from beginners. It all goes back to a quality offer. If you have a quality offer in place, people will buy. And affiliates will promote it.
Even if you’re a beginner.
Listen, and I say this with deep sincerity: don’t sell yourself short. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do something because you’re a beginner. And don’t tell yourself that either.
You can do anything in internet marketing you are willing to invest yourself in long enough to see results.
Create that eClass. You CAN do it!!
And I’ll be glad to help you. Come join me at http://www.WorkshopAtHome.com.

Okay Jimmy,
Your point is well made. I am in your 12 month course at Affillnaire and I am working 8 to 10 hours per day. I am not going to give up come hell or high water. There is so much to learn and so many mistakes to be made before you reach the level we all so desire. I beleive in your methods and trying to understand all as I go.
Thanks for being straith forward.

Brilliant post. this is so true.
In fact, most of the time, beginners will help you even MORE than well known gurus because they are closest to your situation.

Thanks for the uplifting feedback. So many of us feel the same way when we read that we should be selling thousand dollar products in addition to low cost stuff - we simply feel un-qualified.
The way your break down the excuse gives many of us hope including me. And if you really think about it, it is theoretically impossible to do the same thing that others are doing without getting the same results - which applies equally well to copying losers and copying winners.

Solid information that is as good as it gets, read learn, do and be consistent.
I believe that Jimmy is one of the good guys on the internet and as you know they are hard to find.
If we stick to it and never say “Its to hard” or “I can’t do it” then we will get there.
Keep going everyone!!
Thanks Brad

Don’t want to sound like an ad for “why I love Jimmy” but this is another difference between talking and doing.
Gurus love to talk, Jimmy loves to walk.. (strike that..) run his talk.
